Bartlett's Farm is Nantucket Island's oldest and largest family owned farm. Seven generations of Bartletts have been farming the same land since William Bartlett arrived on Nantucket in the early 1800's. While we still grow a wide variety of vegetables in the fields, our business has expanded greatly to support many families.
The 60s and 70s brought the beginnings of what is now our garden center with the building of the first glass greenhouse and Quonset huts. The 80s saw us trying to keep up with the unprecedented growth of the island economy. The large greenhouse range built in 1985-1986 is still the base for growing all the plants that we sell. In the early 90s, we published our first cookbook, which led to the transformation of the 1940s old dairy barn into our first commercial kitchen. In 2005 we built a new outside sales area for plants, and in March of 2006, the farm market opened.
